All roads lead to Scotland for construction equipment sector

Standout machines from many of the world’s largest construction equipment manufacturers will be on show at the Royal Highland Centre, near Edinburgh, on April 20 and 21 when ScotPlant 2018 gets underway.

The largest event in the Scottish plant industry calendar will see more than 150 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and innovations to hit the marketplace.

Visitors will have the opportunity to see the latest machines from the likes of JCB, Volvo, Liebherr, Case, Sandvik, Komatsu, Doosan, Hyundai, Takeuchi, Wacker Neuson and Kubota.

The event will mark the European debut of the new Hyundai HX130 LCR crawler excavator, which will make an appearance on the Young Plant Sales stand. The machine is the third compact-radius excavator in Hyundai’s HX series product line.

JCB has confirmed its brand new X-Series 20-tonne excavators will be on show, while ScotPlant debutants Molson Green will unveil the Sennebogen 817E, a compact purpose-built material handler specifically designed for use in tight or indoor environments.

The new Takeuchi TB225 towable mini excavator will take centre-stage on the manufacturer’s stand, while TDL Equipment has confirmed it will use ScotPlant to announce a new Scottish partnership with Mecalac.

Attachments specialist Miller UK will mark “40 years of innovation”, while Access Platform Sales, the official UK distributor for Hinowa tracked booms, will be showing off the recently-released Hinowa Lightlift 13.70, a 13m tracked boom, and its larger counterpart, the Lightlift 20.10.

Marubeni-Komatsu returned to ScotPlant two years ago following a 14-year absence. The firm is back again with a line-up that includes the new PC80MR-5 midi excavator, featuring an integrated counterweight and tight tail swing radius.

The thriving tiltrotator market will also be well served with exhibitors including Steelwrist UK, Engcon dealer JCC Group and Highland Hammer Hire, the recently appointed Scottish distributors for Rototilt.

Business Fours teeing off for Construction, Housing & Property professionals

Scotland’s national business golf tournament Business Fours returns in 2018 with its Spring season after the success of last year’s inaugural tournament.

With five industry qualifying heats taking place ahead of the national final in St Andrews the date for Construction, Housing & Property professionals is Thursday 26th April.  The event is being held at the Championship course at MacDonald Cardrona supported once again by industry partners, Scottish Construction Now, Scottish Housing News and the Scottish Property Federation.

Companies will be playing for their own chosen charity with the eventual winners collecting Business Fours 10% donation for their chosen charity, a model that has proven very successful with Business Fives having raised almost £40,000 for charities across Scotland since launching less than two years ago.

Business Fours events have the distinct aim of bringing companies across Scotland closer together with fourballs being split up to increase networking opportunities.  This was summed up perfectly by a player from last year’s event, Scott Hunter, solicitor from Turcan Connell, who said: “Good mix of business contacts; good golf course; good food; really good format that gets you speaking with new contacts in a relaxed setting.”

Companies like Stewart Milne Homes, CBC and Malcolm Hollis are involved so far and you can find additional info on the Construction, Housing & Property heat on our website here.

Tournament founder John McClarey said: “We are looking forward to building on the success of our 2017 events and the aim is to double the £4,660 raised for charity last year.

The feedback from the events was fantastic and we hope to continue to enable our clients to make lasting relationships through our golf events. We’re delighted to be taking in two new cities for Business Fours and are very much looking forward to hosting our Construction, Housing & Property event alongside our very supportive partners.”
