Business Fives is back for winter season

CHP Glasgow Winter SM 2018Business Fives, Scotland’s national business five-a-side tournament moves indoor once more for its winter season.

The tournament has welcomed over 280 companies to its football and golf events raising over £30,000 for charities throughout Scotland since launching a year and a half ago and is planning the winter season to be the biggest and best yet.

CHP Edinburgh Winter SM 2018The date for the Construction, Housing & Property winter heats is Tuesday 23rd January at the World of Football, Corn Exchange venue in Edinburgh and Tuesday 6th February at the SoccerWorld venue in Glasgow. RBS are the reigning winter champions, having qualified from this sector last year, does your firm have what it takes to beat them?

Views sought on revised code of conduct for registered property factors

PRS housing stockThe Scottish Government is consulting on proposals to revise the Code of Conduct for registered property factors and other related amendments to the Property Factors (Scotland) Act 2011.

The consultation also seeks views on whether the original Code has led to improvements in the quality of factoring services to homeowners and whether the 2011 Act has improved the wider regulation of property factors.

The consultation runs until January 15 and people can respond online.

A number of interactive events will also be held on the following dates for those with an interest in the Code or the wider 2011 Act to discuss and debate the proposals and questions raised in the consultation.

2018 CECA Scot AwardsEvery year CECA Scotland celebrates the achievements of young people in the civil engineering sector through our Emerging Talent Awards.

We are now looking for entries for the 2018 Awards, which will be presented at the Annual CECA Scotland Dinner and Awards Ceremony in Glasgow on 22nd February 2018.

The following awards are now open to qualifying employees of CECA Scotland members:

  • Most Promising Apprentice (This award focuses on candidates undertaking apprenticeships in general construction operations, highways maintenance, road building, plant operations and plant maintenance)
  • Most Promising Technician
  • Most Promising New Entrant Trainee Civil Engineer
  • Most Promising Trainee Quantity Surveyor

The winners of each category will receive a certificate and cheque for £500.
