And finally… ‘Lovelocks’ to be removed on Pitlochry bridge for structural assessments

The ‘lovelocks’ attached to Pitlochry’s Port-na-Craig footbridge are to be removed to allow for structural assessments.

The padlocks are currently preventing Perth & Kinross Council from carrying out a full inspection on the structure. They are also causing damage to the bridge paintwork leading to rusting of steel sections, as well as posing a potential snagging hazard for pedestrians.
Work will begin on 12 November to remove the padlocks and touch-up the paintwork on the bridge.
It is expected to be completed by Thursday 22 November, weather permitting.
In 2014, Paris officials put up plastic panels on the iconic Pont des Arts spanning the Seine river in front of the Louvre in an attempt to stop lovers sealing their passion attached to the pedestrian bridge after a section collapsed under the weight of the padlocks.
