And finally… turning over a new leaf

A former federal prison in New York is being transformed into a cannabis cultivation and manufacturing facility.

And finally... turning over a new leaf

The Orange County Industrial Development Agency (OCIDA) in the state of New York has awarded significant financial support to the project.

Green Thumb Industries Inc. will transform a 40-acre site into a “state-of-the-art” facility with 125 full-time employees, Benzinga reports.

Ben Kovler, founder and CEO of Green Thumb, said: “Planting a flag at a former federal prison that used to incarcerate people for cannabis and will now employ people to grow cannabis is another example of the full circle nature of this industry.

“We are proud and humbled to be in this spot and look forward to creating hundreds of jobs, generating a lot of vital tax revenue, enabling well-being and changing people’s assumptions on cannabis.”
