Chief planner John McNairney to retire

John McNairney has announced that he intends to retire from his position as chief planner at the Scottish Government later this summer.

Mr McNairney took up the chief planner role in 2012, after previously holding lead roles in planning policy and practice, digital planning and information. Prior to joining the former Scottish Office at devolution, John practiced in local government and in planning consultancy.

He was elected to Fellowship of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) in October.
 
The Scottish Government said it will update on the arrangements for appointing a successor in due course.
