Launched by the Housing, Construction & Infrastructure (HCI) Skills Gateway, part of the Edinburgh and South-East Scotland City Region Deal, the survey sees four further education colleges – Borders College, Edinburgh College, Fife College and West Lothian College – unite to undertake a major needs analysis to address industry needs and highlight barriers to accessible training.

The findings will enable the colleges to respond and adapt the courses they offer to ensure companies can upskill their current workforce and ensure that new recruits have the knowledge and understanding to thrive in 21st century built environment careers.

The four-minute survey is now live and closes on December 4. Those responding can be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher. The winner will be announced on December 9.

David Lowe, assistant principal at Borders College, said: “This is a great opportunity for the industry to help colleges in the South East of Scotland support the future skills needs of our region over the coming years. By completing the survey you can help us to identify any gap areas and CPD needs, whether that be specific upskilling or delivery of short courses.”

The Housing, Construction & Infrastructure Skills Gateway is based at Edinburgh Napier University and has £6 million in funding over eight years from the UK and Scottish Government to upskill and accelerate construction careers, addressing skills gaps across the sector and region.
