The development at Garvel Crescent will incorporate a mix of terraced houses and cottage flats.

The properties have been designed by MAST Architects under Glasgow City Council guidelines, with vehicles will be catered for by dedicated landscaped parking courts.

“From the 1950s the site housed a series of residential properties, demolition of which was carried out between 1999 and 2017. The site is currently a brownfield site,” a planning report states.

“There is significant residential development surrounding the site, primarily two-storey semi-detached blocks with four-storey flatted blocks to both the north and south.”

Houses would have dedicated car parking, next to and overlooked from the buildings.

“The way parking is handled is a major factor in determining the quality of a residential development,” the report adds.

“Parked vehicles can dominate the environment, affecting both how areas look and residents’ and visitors’ perception of safety. Good design should accommodate the requirements of car users, while locating parking appropriately to minimise its visual and physical impact in the street.

“MAST have taken the approach to creating parking court areas which can be overlooked by the residents.

“The parking courts are located in areas which add to the streetscape and also tie in with the proposed landscape.”
