Perth and Kinross Council approves plans for 100 Blairgowrie homes

Perth and Kinross Council’s planning and development committee has unanimously approved a Blairgowrie housing development.

Scotia Homes and GS Brown Construction’s submitted plans to build 107 houses on land located to the south west of Maple Place. The plans include 12 two-bedroom houses, 54 three-bedroom homes and 41 four-bedroom detached houses.

A play area, link road connecting Berrydale Road with Hazelwood Road and footpath/cycle paths to the community campus and Piggies Lane recreation area are also proposed.

Liberal Democrat councillor Willie Wilson asked if the plans would create a direct link to Perth Road. A planning officer confirmed this was the case, helping divert and move traffic around Blairgowrie more freely.

Mr Wilson declared this a “small hallelujah moment”.

Strathtay Conservative councillor Ian James moved to approve the plans, stating: “The connection to the Perth Road is an absolute bonus and has been a long time coming. It also opens it up to the new development for the shops across the road.”

Mr Wilson seconded and the plans were approved, The Courier reports.
