Joe Guilfoyle

Currently responsible for SHE within Robertson’s Construction Group, Joe will step up to manage excellence across both Robertson Group and Robertson Residential Group businesses spanning Scotland and northern England – including construction, housebuilding, infrastructure, engineering and support services.

His experience extends more than 25 years in the construction industry moving from trade, to construction management to senior health and safety roles. Joe has worked with several major contractors across the UK.

Joe will replace Ken Millar who has spent five years with the business during which he was instrumental in developing a culture built around health and safety.

Elliot Robertson, chief executive officer, Robertson, said: “This is the natural progression for Joe as he’s proven himself to be a hugely valuable member of the senior SHE team, and, alongside Ken, has progressed Robertson’s industry-leading health and safety procedures and Home Safe engagement with staff and key stakeholders.

“The critical role of health and safety is in the spotlight, more now than ever, as we navigate new ways of working that ensure the continued health, safety and wellbeing of our employees when they return to work across our businesses.

“We have no doubt that Joe has the skills and experience necessary to successfully lead the SHE team, with the important responsibility of actioning our new COVID-19 safe operating procedures and Group health and safety strategy.”

Since joining the business in January 2019, Joe has helped develop and deliver its internal behavioural safety programme, influencing positive attitudes and behaviours and enhancing Robertson’s safety culture.

Joe Guilfoyle added: “Health and safety has always been the number one priority for Robertson and that focus remains steadfast as our sites and offices adapt to new ways of working. I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge and believe Robertson is well positioned to continue as an industry leader and example of best practice in the UK.

“My new responsibilities will see me draw from the experience I have to offer, leadership, advice, direction and support to the fantastic SHE team and wider management, so we can continue to deliver the highest level of safety, health and environmental support and advice  that form the core of the Robertson business.”
