Thomas & Adamson champions Scottish apprentices
Construction and property consultancy Thomas & Adamson is supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week by highlighting the wide range of opportunities available to those interested in pursuing a career within international construction and property services.
Over the years, the company has benefited greatly from a number of rich talent coming out of Scottish schools and universities and runs an apprenticeship programme across all of its consultancy services.
The programme supports trainee’s through the relevant university course with the guidance of an appointed mentor. This allows the trainee to gain a broader understanding of both the industry and the business, and get exposure and experience to the full range of professional services offered by Thomas & Adamson. Along with the support of their mentor, they can determine what direction they would like their career to take on completion of their apprenticeship.
Claire Green, 22, from Edinburgh joined the company as an administrative assistant in 2013 upon leaving school and recently started a quantity surveying degree at Edinburgh Napier University. Prior to this Claire achieved an HNC in quantity surveying at Fife College. By working within Thomas & Adamson, Claire has gained insights into the industry and as a result has chosen to pursue a career in the quantity surveying field.
Finlay Woodburn, 19, from Glasgow joined the company last December as a trainee quantity surveyor upon leaving school and recently started a quantity surveying degree part-time at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Upon completing their apprenticeships, Claire and Finlay will both become qualified Quantity Surveyors and be integral members of the Quantity Surveying team.

It’s great to see these young people develop their skills, and we would encourage any business to recognise the important role apprentices can play in the workplace.”
