TV presenter named RIAS charity scheme patron

Architect in the Hoose collageThe Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) has launched this year’s Architect in the Hoose initiative to help homeowners and raise money for the Architects Benevolent Society (ABS).

The scheme sees architects register to offer free, hour-long consultations to the public, in return for a small donation of £25 for the ABS.

This year’s patron of Architect in the Hoose, is one of the presenters BBC’s Beechgrove Garden, Carole Baxter.

Carole said: “Every good garden needs a nice house. Architect in the Hoose is a brilliant scheme for people considering renovating; extending or even building a new house! Architects across Scotland are giving up their time to help homeowners whilst raising money and awareness for such a worthy charity.”

The ABS cares for architects, assistants, technologists and landscape architects and their dependants providing practical and financial help to people of all ages who have experienced redundancy, illness, accident or bereavement.

Anyone who is considering making changes to their property is encouraged to sign-up.

Registration is now open and will closes at the end of September. Members of the public can download a registration form from www.hoose.scot.
