Location: meetings will likely be by video link in first instance and thereafter in Glasgow or Edinburgh
Mears Housing Management are seeking to become Scotland’s first new Registered Social Landlord (RSL) in over a decade. We are acutely aware of the need to increase Scotland’s housing supply and are seeking to contribute to this through the introduction of further affordable homes into the housing system.
As an RSL our mission will be twofold:
- To alleviate homelessness by increasing the supply of affordable social housing
- To create more community based housing options for assisted and supported living
This unique RSL proposal will be underpinned by a commitment to investing in property to safeguard the supply of affordable housing in the longer term.
Mears have recently submitted our application to the Scottish Housing Regulator and are now looking to recruit strategic and enthusiastic Board Members with the skills and experience to support the establishment, development and operation of this new charitable organisation.
You could be an experienced board member, or this could be your first application for a board position.
You will be able to offer skills in one or more of the following – housing management; asset management and development; finance; legal, inclusion, equality and diversity; marketing; governance; policy; business transformation or human resources to ensure we have a balanced and diverse board.
You will understand the breadth of the role, with its strong emphasis on strategy and policy development, good governance, assurance, and be able to fulfil a wider ambassadorial role. You will need to be a team player, operating to the highest standards of probity in a culture of openness.
This role is voluntary with reasonable out of pocket expenses being paid. Support will be given in the role through ongoing training, development and mentoring.
