We are looking for a high calibre individual to join our Property team at an exciting time for Melville Housing Association. Last January we introduced new working arrangements that have seen staff become among the first in Scotland to work a reduced 4-day week.
As well as the 4-day working week, our generous conditions of service include hybrid working (2 days in office, 2 at home) and a career average revalued earning pension scheme.
Melville Housing is Midlothian’s largest registered social landlord. We own and manage more than 2,100 properties mainly in Midlothian but with some in South Lanarkshire as well as a small number across central and southern Scotland.
Joining our busy Property Services team you will help deliver an efficient repairs service, working with tenants and contractors on both reactive and planned maintenance jobs. You will help to manage each contractor and contract and will provide information regarding tenant satisfaction, effective supervision, quality control checks, compliance with agreed specification and current legislation.
Reporting to the Property Manager, you will deliver a professional and businesslike service within a supportive and friendly working environment. You should have a working knowledge and understanding of the current standards on annual gas servicing and maintenance, fire detection legislation and electrical safety relating to our tenants’ homes. You will monitor health and safety and raise any issues immediately with the contractor and the Property Manager.
In order to help us achieve high performance and service levels and ensure accuracy, timescales and compliance, you will have strong administrative and IT skills, including good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
You must also be able to build good relations with our tenants and partners, and contribute to our enthusiastic team, together with the ability to work well on your own
You will also need to have a full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle insured for business.
