Former Dunne Group director charged over ‘financial irregularities’

Gordon Dunne

The former director of the collapsed RC concrete specialist Dunne Group is facing charges over alleged “financial irregularities” in connection with another company he was linked to.

According to the Daily RecordGordon Dunne and his wife Johanna have now been charged in relation to Alloa-based DWS Building and Civil Engineering – a firm now in liquidation he was linked to after Dunne Group fell into administration in 2016.

Police Scotland confirmed that a report has been sent to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).

A police spokesman said: “A 54-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman have been charged and will be the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged financial irregularities.”

Bathgate-based Dunne worked on projects such as the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and the new Maggie’s Centre at Forth Valley General Hospital in Larbert before it collapsed with the loss of more than 500 jobs. It also contributed to the much-delayed opening of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children where the group was responsible for the construction of the concrete frame, groundworks and associated support services such as tower cranes.

Mr Dunne has been a director of four dissolved firms, three of which were liquidated, and five companies that went into administration.

It is understood that Dunne has not been charged with embezzlement, the Daily Record added.
