McGill recently announced its merger with Alliance Electrical Services to solidify its position as a strong mid-tier contractor in the North East of Scotland, operating right across the country. The merger allowed McGill to expand its ambitions, and it forecasts turnover in excess of £15 million this year.

The firm already has a number of large public sector and commercial contracts extending throughout 2021 and beyond, and with the lockdown period coming to an end, the company is set to take advantage of the demand for a mid-tier contractor delivering a wide range of services.

A chartered surveyor by profession, Douglas brings with him two decades of experience in the building services and property industries. After spending eight years in private practice, he spent 17 years at Marshall Construction as chief estimator and commercial lead, after which he spent time at a number of SMEs in the construction & facilities management industry, where he doubled turnover in his role as director.

With a reputation for winning profitable work, Douglas specialises in contract awards. He has a proven history of building significant profitable turnover, maintaining and developing existing and new clients, and has a portfolio of completed construction projects in excess of £500m.

McGill managing director Errol Lawrie said: “We are all delighted to welcome Douglas to the team at McGill. He comes with great commercial knowledge and experience, and we know he will be instrumental in McGill’s success. With our recent merger we have already increased our services along with our ambitions, and Douglas will make sure we’re winning profitable work that uses all of our skills.”

Douglas added: “McGill’s reputation for excellence precedes it, and I’m thrilled to join Errol and his ambitious team. McGill and I each have decades of experience in successfully delivering construction, mechanical, and engineering contracts, so we can really hit the ground running in bringing Scotland a strong, stable contractor, which delivers even the most ambitious contracts.”
