Morgan Sindall Professional Services (MSPS) is refocusing its new business development and marketing operations following the promotion of former MSPS business development director Stuart Parker to sister company, Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, in Scotland.

The announcement comes after the success of the design and engineering firm’s sector-led strategy, and the decision by managing director, Richard Webster, to give greater autonomy and new business responsibility to the directors of each sector team.

It also follows the further strengthening of MSPS’ marketing capability with the appointment of a dedicated marketing professional, Clare White.

Richard said that the role of each sector director has evolved as the MSPS sector strategy has matured.

“The directors have increased their profile within each of their respective areas of responsibility,” he said, “and this is allowing them to strengthen existing customer relationships as well as developing new business opportunities.”

Stuart Parker, now business development director for Morgan Sindall plc in Scotland said the success of MSPS in the last two and half years has been dramatic.

“The company has grown 50 percent, delivering strong profits against target,” he said. “The business is doing exceptionally well in Switzerland, developing a market leading profile in the life sciences sector and branching into other areas such as energy. In the UK, we’ve also seen growth in sectors including nuclear, transport and our public sector portfolio. In my own back yard in Scotland particularly, we have developed a much greater profile as a standalone consultancy and are recognised for adding real value to projects. All this whilst maintaining an encouraging culture where everyone is aligned to the business strategy, which will no doubt continue to drive the positive trends of the past two years.”

Stuart believes that his move within Morgan Sindall is evidence of the significant opportunities that exist within the Group.

He added: “The move to a higher profile role within the Scottish marketplace is ultimately where I wanted to progress my career. It demonstrates that employees aren’t constrained to one business unit or discipline, and that there are real opportunities for significant career development.”

MSPS now has a dedicated sector lead in each of the following areas: transport; defence and government; nuclear; life sciences and manufacturing; power, public sector and engineering services. Andy Gotts, civil and structural engineering lead in Scotland, will take on Stuart’s Scottish office responsibilities.
