Property developers, FM Group, have been gaining a reputation for breathing new life into listed buildings, preserving and protecting heritage across Scotland after investing £10 million into two historic landmarks.

The 19th century Ury House in Aberdeenshire, which had fallen into ruin, is now wind and water tight following extensive restoration and on-track to become a luxury boutique hotel and spa.

Meanwhile, Dalnair Castle on the edge of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is being sympathetically transformed into an exclusive residential development of 10 luxury apartments.

The extensive work included removing all dry rot inside the building, installing new floors throughout and refurbishing the roof and external stonework.

The property developers have also recently lodged planning applications which include the regeneration and protection of Class B and C heritage buildings on the former Sunnyside Royal Hospital site in Montrose and the Grade B listed Cathcart House, formerly the HQ of Scottish Power, on the south side of Glasgow.

FM Group director, Jonathon Milne, said: “As a family-run Scottish business, we care deeply about our country’s heritage and this is reflected in many of our developments. We are passionate about building residential and commercial developments which preserve the best of heritage through the best of modern day construction techniques to build developments and communities of which we can be proud now and in the future.

“The refurbishment of listed buildings demands the detailed attention and involvement of our team. It also requires significant capital investment to safeguard the properties from ruin which, in turn, means we must take a longer term view on these developments.”

“Our first ever project in 1997 was the sensitive conversion of an Edinburgh townhouse into a four-flatted development and we take the same care and attention to detail now that we did then.”

FM Group has signed a contract with ICMI to operate the boutique hotel at Ury once completed.

Their portfolio includes the Cromlix Hotel in Perthshire and Inverlochy Hotel in Fort William.

Ury Castle Hotel will be the focal point for the Ury golf development which includes a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course and (don’t mention numbers as Im remixing) luxury homes.

The residential development of Dalnair Castle Estate will consist of 10 luxury apartments within the Castle itself, eight mews properties, four plots within a walled garden and a further ten plots set within the existing landscape. The Castle is being extensively refurbished to the highest standard, with only the highest quality products and materials used throughout.

In addition to its unique setting and quality specification, residents will enjoy access to private, gated grounds featuring a tennis court and extensive lawns and walks. A viewhome has now been opened and viewings are through the Sole selling Agents Corum.
