And finally… 99 problems but the heat ain’t one

Bosses at a construction site came up with a novel way to keep workers cool during high temperature workdays.

Progress on the Park Street site in Cardiff city centre, which is thought to be one of Wales’ biggest office developments, was being threatened by the recent boiling heat but managers hired an ice cream van to swing by the site.

Staff at the Robert McAlpine project are working around the clock to make sure the 270,000 sq ft office development for 4,000 HMRC staff will open its doors on schedule in 2020.

The workers cheered and queued up for the ice cold treats and were very pleased by the gesture from their bosses.

One worker, Nicky Jewitt, told Wales Online: “It’s good – great for morale and team spirit. I’m going to get a fruit lolly.”
