Under the proposals, tellingly unveiled on April 1, the Apex Grasshopper would stretch from the Apex Hotels group’s Grassmarket property straight into Edinburgh Castle’s Esplanade at the top of the Royal Mile.

Eight four-person gondolas make the 200 meter round journey from the roof of the Apex Grassmarket Hotel to the World Heritage Site and back again in under ten minutes.

ISA promised the new transport system would help ease congestion and allow visitors with only a short time in the city to make the most of their stay.
