And finally… Big Lego Build to visit Prestongrange

The free workshops will be running at Prestongrange Museum on the 2 and 3 May, with eager builders able to book one-hour sessions to help recreate this piece of industrial heritage, working with master builder Alistair Jelks.

The Learning & Inclusion Team at Historic Environment Scotland (HES) has partnered with East Lothian Council Museums to deliver the event, where participants will learn about architecture, scale, construction and heritage in a fun and hands-on way, with lots of opportunity to learn new Lego building skills and techniques.

Kate Maynard, East Lothian Council’s team manager for museums, said: “We are very excited to be hosting a Big Lego Build at Prestongrange with Historic Environment Scotland. We look forward to welcoming all visitors, spectators as well as builders! The finished model of the Beam Engine will take pride of place in the Visitor Centre.”

Fiona Davidson, HES learning officer, said: “Our Big Lego Builds are brilliant intergenerational events, with adults and children learning alongside and from each other. They have proven to be really popular with communities in other areas of Scotland, with many events oversubscribed, and we’re delighted to be bringing our latest Build to Prestongrange.”
