And finally… CIOB to develop film series

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is collaborating with content creators, Content With Purpose (CWP), to produce a film series looking into how decisions made by built environment professionals today will determine the resilience, sustainability and performance of the world in the future.

Inspired by the priorities of CIOB president Professor Saul Humphrey’s year in office, “Building for Tomorrow” will look into the idea of tipping points in the built environment - moments where increasing environmental pressures, altering expectations and new ways of working are influencing the transformation of the industry, reports Specification Online.

Through storytelling, insight and case studies, the film series will shed light on the people, projects, organisations and partnerships that help ideas to materialise.

It will showcase progress, including high-quality retrofit that extends the life of existing buildings and renewable energy.

From construction, design and engineering to sustainability, technology, manufacturing, research, education and the wider supply chain, the film series will show how organisations across the built environment can contribute to positive change.

Amanda Williams, head of environmental sustainability at CIOB, said: “The built environment has a profound relationship with both climate and nature, and the choices our profession makes today will have consequences for generations to come.

“Through Building for Tomorrow, we want to showcase what progress looks like in practice, share learning from across our international community and demonstrate how the profession can respond to these interconnected challenges in a practical, positive and sustained way.”

Max Smith, founder and managing director of CWP, said: “We believe storytelling can be a powerful catalyst for change.

“The built environment is facing complex and interconnected challenges, but there are also extraordinary people and organisations developing solutions, challenging established ways of working and demonstrating what progress can look like.”

Building for Tomorrow will launch on 5 June 2027.
