And finally… first as tragedy

A botched restoration effort in Spain has gone viral, evoking comparisons to the country’s earlier infamous botched painting of Jesus Christ.

And finally... first as tragedy

Local artist Antonio Guzmán Capel spotted and photographed the pitiful work on the façade of a bank in Palencia.

The original artwork, of a smiling woman in a country scene, was unveiled in 1923, NPR reports.

ACRE, the representative body for professional restorers and conservators in Spain, deplored the work on Twitter.
