And finally… Heatwave causes bin lorry to sink into road

A waste vehicle became stuck after sinking into a town centre road in Berkshire.

The lorry’s back wheels sunk into Old Bath Road in Newbury, which appeared to have partially collapsed.

A crane was used to remove the lorry and engineers are investigating to find out what caused the hole to open up.

Thames Valley Police said the road was not expected to reopen until Friday. None of the bin workers were injured.
