And finally... lights out

France is to fine shops that leave their lights on too long as it cracks down on energy waste.

Agnès Pannier-runacher, the energy transition minister, said that firms that break rules on when they can have their lights on will face fines of €1,500 (£1,294).

In the past decade, shops have had to turn their lights off after 1am – though many say this has been ignored.
