One-year-old Myles and his mum Michelle have been daily visitors to the demolition site, which will be completed later this week.

Myles has loved visiting the site, watching the diggers and interacting with the workers. They would peep the horn of the diggers for him and move the bucket up and down so that it would ‘wave’ at him.

To acknowledge this special relationship, contractor Safedem gave Myles his own hardhat and toy digger, and even stopped work on site for a short period of time to let him ride on a digger.

William Sinclair, managing director at Safedem, said: “We are delighted that we have safely delivered this project for East Ayrshire Council, but what has made it extra special has been Myles’ visits to watch our machine in action.

“The Safedem site team have made him an honorary member of the demolition squad!”
