And finally… New York tower to become world’s tallest residential skyscraper

central-park-towerNew details about the future tallest residential building on Earth have been released, along with an updated rendering showing the super-tall skyscraper towering over New York City.

Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the Central Park Tower is expected to reach 1,550 feet (472 metres) tall when it completes in 2019.

It will be the second-tallest building in the country (after One World Trade) and the tallest residential building in the world.

Central Park Tower is located at 217 West 57th Street on Billionaires Row, an area of midtown that has seen a rush of new skyscrapers over the past decade.

The new building will house a seven-floor Nordstrom at its base and amenities for residents will include a cigar bar, a private dining room and a grand ballroom, along with conference suites, children’s play areas and a screening room.

Prices for the residences will average $7,106 (£5,515) per square foot, while one of the units will be listed for $95 million (£74 million).
