And finally… Pasquill gets into ‘Trussmas’ spirit with timber tree creation

Roof truss manufacturer and supplier Pasquill has embraced the festive spirit by unveiling a Christmas tree measuring 23 feet made entirely out of trusses.

Staff from Pasquill’s Inverness branch created a smaller design the previous year, and after receiving a great response decided to supersize the tree for Christmas 2018. Standing at 23 feet tall, the tree comprises of eleven different segments with a star completing the jaw-dropping design.

The design team used MiTek Pamir 3D software to carefully plan the structure. The 3D modelling and augmented reality allowed the team to understand the scale of the tree, to allow it to stand. Once the design process was completed, the individual pieces were cut, pressed and plated together at the branch.

Anchoring the base to the ground allowed the individual pieces to be put into place to form the structure. The final touches of the lights were added, giving the branch a truly festive feel.

Donald Matheson, senior designer at Pasquill, said: “After the success of the previous year’s ‘Trussmas tree’ we decided to make a larger version this year. It has proved to be a great success, giving our customers the Christmas spirit during the festive period.”
