And finally… Size matters

And finally. . . Size matters

SpaceX and Tesla’s newly planned Texas factory development might soon overtake the world’s largest building by volume.

The Boeing factory in Washington’s Everett currently stands as the world’s largest building by volume, spanning over 472 million cubic feet, the Daily Express reports.

The facility covers 98 acres, while the original Disneyland park in California’s Anaheim takes up approximately 85 acres.

Since its opening in 1967, the Boeing plant has been the origin of over 5,000 wide-bodied airliners.

But the planned Terafab is set to be bigger than some of the world’s largest industrial buildings, with over 100 million square feet of manufacturing space and an estimated internal volume of roughly 100 million cubic metres.

Boeing’s Everett factory encloses approximately 472 million cubic feet, or approximately 13.3 million cubic metres. But the Terafab could have a footprint between five and 23-fold that of the Boeing facility and roughly 7.5-fold its internal volume.

The SpaceX and Tesla project is being planned in Grimes County, Texas.
