And finally... space oddity

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has added a gleaming, spaceship‑like structure to the grounds of his $175 million Beverly Hills mansion.

Photos obtained by The New York Post show a polished silver pod sitting on the property, prompting the outlet to describe it as a “UFO‑like structure.” Bezos purchased the estate in 2020, along with an additional $10m adjoining lot.

The Post suggested the unusual installation could be a “space‑themed sauna” and possibly the work of a boutique design studio. The theory isn’t far‑fetched: Bezos owns the space‑flight company Blue Origin, which has sent celebrities — including his wife and Katy Perry — on brief trips beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

One likely creator is designer Timothy Oulton. His studio offers a custom piece called Apollo, a polished‑steel capsule built to the same scale as NASA’s Apollo 11 module. The design closely resembles the structure spotted on Bezos’s lawn.

According to Oulton’s website, Apollo “represents the journeys that we go on through time and space in search of design inspiration.” The capsule functions as a luxury lounge that can serve as a private seating area, workspace, meeting pod, or dining space. Each unit is made to order, can be adapted for outdoor use, and requires 1,448 hours to build.
