And finally… Street artist has novel way of encouraging council to repair potholes

WanksyA mystery street artist has taken a phallic approach to tackling Manchester’s “appalling” pothole problem.

The anonymous spray-painter, who has dubbed himself “Wanksy”, sprang into action after several of his cyclist friends were badly injured on the roads.

When Wanksy spots a pothole he carefully draws a giant penis around it in non-permanent paint.

He showcases his work on a Facebook page and includes incidences where his efforts have paid off and the council had duly filled the dangerous and offending holes.

On one of the posts, the activist explained that one pothole had been there for eight months without being filled in but after he drew a penis on it, the pothole was fixed in less than 48 hours.

However, Wanksy fears that his high output may now have ballsed-up his initial objectives, telling i100.co.uk: “They don’t always get filled, in fact, I think the council maybe deliberately not filling them in now.”

Indeed, local council officials have taken a dim view of his actions, telling the Manchester Evening News that not only do they deem the drawings to be “obscene” but that “every penny that we have to spend cleaning off this graffiti is a penny less that we have to spend on actually repairing the potholes!”
