And finally…’That looks a bit ropey’

Aberdeen councillor Ian‎ Yuill has urged has urged the city council to take action after he discovered that a contractor was holding a lamppost on the city’s Hammersmith Road in place with a piece of rope.

Liberal Democrat Yuill said: “I couldn’t believe what I saw as I was walking along Hammersmith Road. The contractors replacing the street lights had tied an old street light pole to one of the new ones usimg a piece of rope - apparently to stop the old street light‎ pole falling over.

“I hate to think how many health and safety rules this might break.”

Mr Yuill has contacted the council’s General Manager (Operations) and urged him to take action.

Ian Yuill added: “Like many residents, I am delighted to see many of the old street lights in the Broomhill area being replaced. It’s alarming though to see a contractor carrying out the work doing something like this.”
