And finally… The Gruffalo reimagined as a bedroom

To celebrate International Women’s Day yesterday, Home Essentials has re-created Julia Donaldson’s classic childhood tale The Gruffalo and turned it into an extraordinary bedroom.

And finally... The Gruffalo reimagined as a bedroom

Julia Donaldson CBE started her career by writing songs for children’s television but moved her focus to writing books after her song ‘a squash and a squeeze’ was made into a book. This was six years before her acclaimed book ‘The Gruffalo’ was created.

Since then, she has written over 200 books, with over 80 of these being available to buy and over 120 designed for schools.

Her remarkable career has been rewarded with her being appointed MBE in 2011 for her services to literature and this was later promoted to CBE in 2019.

To pay homage to her most famous book, we wanted to bring the magic of her story to life.

Her 1999 classic rhyming tale The Gruffalo showcases the sheer power of imagination.

This tale begins with a little mouse walking through a dangerous forest and to scare off his predators he invents a creature called The Gruffalo. Imagine his surprise when he bumps into a real-life Gruffalo!

Get ready to immerse yourself in this magical forest bedroom with your favourite characters and the friendly Gruffalo minding you as you sleep.

Whilst we can promise that they are no monsters lurking in our recreation, they are certainly a few surprises in store!
