And finally… ‘Theme park’ slide to replace stairs at Glasgow halls of residence

true-student-living-glasgow-6Students will be able to take a theme park-style slide between floors rather than the stairs at a Glasgow halls of residence, according to The Herald.

The 15ft-high slide features twirling loops and looks like something out of a water park rather than a traditional hall of residence.

true-student-living-glasgow-3The chute between the first and ground floors features a clear plastic top half so there is no danger of undergraduates falling out. But how drunken crashes at the bottom will be avoided is less obvious.

It twirls in two loops on its journey from the first to the ground floor of the housing development.

Promotional material for the under-construction block in Kelvinhaugh Street released by accommodation providers Fresh Student Living said the slide “enables students to get to the ground floor in style once that important paper is complete”.

The property has been approved by Glasgow City Council.

The slide is the idea of Liverpool architects KKA.
