And finally… vantage point
A Staffordshire construction worker who was kept off work for months due to an accident has struck gold after winning a £72k Aston Martin Vantage with a 21p raffle ticket.
The win has come at the perfect time for Nathan Wiltshaw, who turned 27 earlier this month and recently welcomed the arrival of his baby son.
Nathan was hard at work on a building site when BOTB presenter Christian Williams arrived to deliver the surprise in person, with Nathan’s partner secretly in on the reveal.
He said of the win: “I’m over the moon. I barely slept last night as it didn’t feel real at all.”
Nathan, who lives in Stoke-on-Trent, admitted he is still weighing up whether to take the car or the cash alternative.
He said: “This couldn’t have come at a better time for me and my family as we have a two-week-old baby and a daughter under two.
“Once I saw and heard it, I thought I definitely wanted to take the car, but taking the cash would be the sensible thing to do.
“It would help us massively financially as I was off work for seven months last year after a motorbike accident, so it would help to pay off bills.
“It would also mean we could replace the leaking roof on our house and maybe go on holiday as well.”
Christian said: “It’s amazing to see someone win on their very first time playing.
“Nathan was completely stunned, and he genuinely didn’t know what to say when he saw the car.
“This Aston Martin Vantage is an absolute animal, and it sounds incredible too.”
He added: “After everything Nathan has been through with his accident and time off work, the timing of this win couldn’t be better. It’s fantastic to be able to turn up and surprise someone when it can really make a difference.
“Nathan now has the difficult choice of taking the keys to the luxury sports car or opting for the cash equivalent instead.”
