Approval for power station upgrade near Killin

Councillors have approved plans for the upgrade to the hydro-electric power station compound near Killin.

Located on land next to the existing Lochay Hydro Power Station in Glen Lochay, the development will include two new grid transformers, a single storey control room and the upgrading of existing access roads.

In a report presented to councillors last week, planning officers stated that the proposals were in accordance with the provisions of the Local Development Plan.

Three representations were received in objection to the proposals.

The development was approved subject to a number of conditions, including:

  • Measures to ensure the protection of important wildlife and trees and to provide enhanced landscape planting.
  • Submission and approval of a Construction Environmental Management Plan that will protect the local ecology and manage construction traffic.
  • Submission of a noise management plan to contain any noise arising from the generator.
