Arc-Tech MU completes multi-utility installation at Glasgow Passivhaus development

Springfield Cross, an affordable housing development in Glasgow, has entered its final stages of build with the completion of multi-utility services.

Located on Springfield Road in the east end of the city, the development consists of 36 two-and-three-bedroom affordable homes delivered by West of Scotland Housing Association.

A Passivhaus-accredited standard of build, one of the most advanced energy performance standards of construction in the UK, the development has been supported by the leading multi-utilities contractor Arc-Tech MU on behalf of Main Contractor CCG (Scotland) and hub West Scotland.

Arc-Tech was responsible for the design and installation of a duel-fuel Gas and Electrical multi-utilities package that forms part of the development’s energy strategy which, as a result of an advanced building fabric and low carbon heating and hot water solutions, will ensure future residents benefit from significantly lower annual energy bills.

Josh Martin, Arc-Tech MU managing director, said: “On behalf of our team, I thank our clients for their continued support throughout the duration of the multi-utility installation programme. This is an incredibly important project not just for Arc-Tech MU but for the city of Glasgow.

“We are in the midst of one of the worst cost of living crises in a generation and Passivhaus, whilst being complicated to achieve, is front and centre of the fuel poverty agenda. We are incredibly proud to have supported the creation of such high-performing, affordable homes and look forward to working with our clients again in the near future.”

Funded by a £4.3 million grant funding from Glasgow City Council’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme and WSHA’s private finance, Springfield Cross is due for completion this summer.
