Architectural practice Studio LBA has made four senior level promotions within its team.

Claire Metivier, who joined the practice in 2023, has been promoted to associate director. As an examiner for the architectural charterships, Claire places huge importance on investing in the wider profession, as well as the more junior team within LBA.

LBA said that her technical knowledge and eagerness to consistently review and improve the quality of output throughout the lifecycle of a project ensures progression and purpose within the practice.

There have been two promotions from senior project architect to associate for Samantha Smith and John Cameron. Both Samantha and John joined the practice in 2017 as graduates.

Samantha has been leading the team on a masterplanning project at St Andrews West for 100 new homes, which is currently well underway on site. She is committed to expanding her professional network and promoting the practice and has established a successful young professionals networking event to help grow existing relationships and form new ones.

John has secured a number of new clients and existing projects over the past year and has excelled taking on the role of lead consultant on large complex conservation projects across Edinburgh’s world heritage site.

Calum Ward has also been promoted to the role of senior project architect. Calum, who joined the practice in 2022, is an exceptional designer and architect, with experience working on large-scale commercial urban masterplanning projects.

This breadth of commercial experience and knowledge is fundamental to support LBA in its plans to continue to secure larger mixed-use masterplan projects, the practice added.

Managing director and founder, Lynsay Bell Manson, said: “The recent promotions are a reflection of the quality of mentoring and investment we put into our graduates and wider team. Continual professional growth and fulfilment within the team is personally so important to me and is actively encouraged. These promotions now set the foundations for our next cycle of growth and expansion and the continued success of the practice. Claire, Samantha, John and Calum have all invested so much into the practice, their clients and the team, these promotions are well deserved.”
