Artists unveiled for Dundee’s newest community artwork

Council leader Mark Flynn joined artists Kate and Lainey of Infinite Sky alongside Persimmon’s Iain McGouldrick to announce the project, which will see a sculpture designed and delivered with input from residents and community groups across the city.

The Stewarts Loan development will provide 71 brand-new, energy-efficient homes, featuring a mix of three and four bedrooms. The sculpture will celebrate Dundee’s rich creative spirit, giving residents the opportunity to contribute to a landmark artwork that reflects the character and history of the area.

Infinite Sky, the Dundee-based artist duo, have over a decade of experience producing public artworks that blend bold visual impact with meaningful community participation. Their portfolio includes murals, sculptures, and socially engaged projects, with commissions ranging from local grassroots initiatives to high-profile national projects.

They will collaborate with Loch Ness Forge, founded by sculptor and metalsmith Andy Macvicar, whose internationally recognised work spans bronze, aluminium, and steel. Andy’s pieces are held in private and public collections, including Dundee’s McManus Gallery. His technical expertise will ensure the mural combines artistic ambition with high-quality craftsmanship.

Dundee City Council leader, Councillor Mark Flynn, said: “Dundee is home to a lot of impressive public art which goes far in showing what our communities are about while also helping to develop a general pride of place.

“I’m very much looking forward to the mural taking shape here through the creativity of local artists Infinite Sky and including the input of new and existing residents as well. Placemaking is important and this is another great example of that happening within our city.”
