New north stand plans for Somerset Park

Plans have been submitted to redevelop Somerset Park as part of a seven figure investment by Ayr United.

The project will see a mix of 700 seats and terracing under the cover of a cantilevered roof, along with an integrated hospitality suite which will cater for around 170 guests.

The club’s operations centre will also switch from the Somerset Hub to purpose built offices within the new stand.

If approved, the works would be delivered by Ashleigh Building, Clancy Consulting and Denham Youd.

Outlining the criteria for the development, Ayr United said it wanted to enhance the fan experience and re-fresh its hospitality offering and incorporate a business club - all while retaining the charm and atmosphere of Somerset Park and working with the existing topography of the site.

In a planning statement, Denham Youd wrote: “The main stand at Somerset Park was designed by the much celebrated, architect and engineer of football stadiums Archibald Leitch. We have tried to be mindful of this in our design.”

“It’s a huge step forward for us and we, collectively, feel very excited about the next stage in our evolution,” the club added.
