BAM vows support for Scotland’s social enterprises
BAM Buy Social Pledge
BAM UK & Ireland has vowed to support social enterprises and create opportunities for them in the Scottish energy infrastructure sector, having signed the Buy Social Pledge.
The Buy Social Pledge unites SMEs, academic institutions, public sector bodies and corporate businesses who are eyeing the integration of social enterprises into their supply chains.
Through signing up to the pledge, the organisations are committing to promoting inclusive economic growth.
During the year, BAM and Siemens Energy were awarded a major contract by SSEN Transmission for the delivery of the Greens substation project.
Douglas Stewart, commercial director at BAM, said: “BAM UK&I has signed Social Enterprise Scotland’s Buy Social Pledge, marking the start of work to identify more inclusive commercial opportunities for social enterprises and local suppliers within Scotland’s growing energy infrastructure sector.
“Alongside joining the pledge, BAM UK&I has also become a Sponsor Member of Social Enterprise Scotland, further demonstrating its commitment to delivering meaningful social value through its operations, partnership and projects.”
Social Enterprise Scotland intends to encourage more organisations to look into how their purchasing choices can lead to commercial ventures for social enterprises and support Scotland’s communities.
Jamie Lawson, strategic partnerships and engagement manager at Social Enterprise Scotland, said: “Their [BAM’s] commitment demonstrates a genuine dedication to delivering social value through both their supply chain and wider business practices.
“By championing and investing in the social enterprise sector, BAM UK&I is helping to drive positive impact and build community wealth across Scotland and is setting a strong example for the energy infrastructure sector.”
