BE-ST Fest North takes place at Eden Court, Inverness, on 6 October 2026, bringing a full day of discussion, insight and practical action focused on one of the key challenges facing Scotland’s built environment: how to heat homes and buildings efficiently, affordably and at scale.

Part of BE-ST Fest 2026, this year’s regional programme is built around the theme ‘Driving Delivery’, with each event focusing on the opportunities and challenges facing a different region.

The North event will put the focus on heat and energy efficiency, bringing together people from across the built environment, energy, housing, public and community sectors to explore what is needed to move from ambition to delivery.

The programme will feature a range of perspectives from across the energy and built environment sectors, including Victoria Erasmus from Turas Hotels, who will talk about their experience of implementing a clean heat project. Keynote Jenni Marchant from Community Energy Scotland will also deliver a keynote on the importance of community participation in the energy system, illustrating benefits through recent projects such as Rural Energy Hubs and the CARES Community Energy Launchpad, with opportunities to get involved.

A panel session will explore how Scotland can build a skilled, resilient and locally rooted supply chain to deliver heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency projects, particularly across the North, as well as host afternoon workshops to cover skills and training, innovation support, and more.

With Scotland working to improve the energy performance of its buildings and transition to cleaner heating systems, the event will examine the practical challenges involved in delivering change at scale. Discussions the all-day event will consider the role of technology, infrastructure, skills, finance, supply chains and local delivery, as well as how different parts of the system need to work together.

The event will bring together national expertise with perspectives from organisations working on the ground, providing an opportunity to share experience, identify barriers and explore practical approaches to delivery across the North of Scotland and beyond.
