Bellway supports rising Scottish karate athlete
Bellway has given support to the ongoing development of a rising teenage Scottish karate athlete.
Monroe Ritchie, from Whitecraig, near Musselburgh, is an accomplished medallist.
Ritchie has just been selected for the Commonwealth Karate Championships taking place during November in Glasgow. The 14-year-old, who specialises in the Wadokai style of karate, came fifth place in the 2022 Commonwealth Club Championships and is at present Scotland’s Vice Champion for her age group.
Bellway donated £200 towards Ritchie’s ongoing athletic development costs.
Lynn Pringle, sales director at Bellway Homes Ltd (Scotland East), said: “Monroe’s achievements are outstanding, as is her commitment to training eight hours a week on top of school!”
Ritchie’s mum, Laura Ritchie, said: “The entire family is so proud of her as she trains so hard. We’ll be cheering loudly at the Commonwealth Champs.”
Meanwhile, Bellway is currently building a new development in Whitecraig, six miles south of Edinburgh, which is known as The Gatehouse.
The development is located on the edge of the village next to Whitecraig primary school, and will have a mix of three, four and five-bedroom energy-efficient homes.
