Public sector development partner hub East Central Scotland has appointed Brian Craig as its new chief executive.

Brian brings almost 30 years of experience in commercial management, quantity surveying, and project management across the property and infrastructure sectors. A Chartered Quantity Surveyor by profession, he has held senior leadership positions including project director, regional director, and deputy commercial director roles with consultancies, major property developers, and global contractors.

His extensive experience spans projects throughout the UK and Ireland, with international expertise gained in delivering major projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Brian has a proven track record of successful project delivery and business strategy, combining strong commercial acumen with effective team leadership and development and joins from his previous role as pre-construction director for Robertson Construction Central West.

Brian takes over the role from Gary Bushnell, who is stepping down after 10 years leading the organisation to take up a new role as managing director of Robertson Capital Projects and will remain on the board of hub East Central Scotland.

Jayne MacLennan, chair of hub East Central Scotland, said: “We are delighted to welcome Brian as our new chief executive. His extensive commercial and project delivery experience, combined with his proven leadership capabilities, will be invaluable as we continue to deliver high-quality, sustainable facilities that make a real difference in communities across our region.”

Brian Craig added: “I’m proud to join an organisation that has built a strong reputation for delivering projects that not only provide vital community facilities but also generate significant long-term social and economic value. I look forward to working with the Board and our public sector partners to continue building on this success, delivering inclusive, sustainable growth across the region.”

hub East Central’s projects consistently deliver significant social value, with over 50% of contracts awarded to Scottish SMEs and a focus on local employment and skills development through apprenticeships on every project. It has successfully delivered over £730 million of facilities that are now open and serving communities, with a further £192m currently under construction and another £321m in development.
