  • Giffnock’s Redhurst Hotel closes for refurbishment 

The Redhurst Hotel in Giffnock has closed to allow a massive refurbishment programme to take place.

The venue is part of the Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group, which formed in 2007 and now comprises eight hotels, two nightclubs, two pubs, a fitness & leisure centre and luxury spa.



The group has already undertaken extensive refurbishments at Cornhill Castle in Biggar, Boclair House in Bearsden and at the Bowfield Hotel & Country Club in Howwood.

The Redhurst Hotel was built in 1967 by the Stakis Hotel Group and has seen a number of owners throughout the years. 

The Manorview Group took ownership of the venue in 2013 after it went into administration. 

It is anticipated that the venue will close for approximately six months from the closure date, with a reopening set for around August/September 2020.



 

  • New Allanwater Homes showhome opened by Michelin chef Michel Roux Jr

Allanwater Homes’ Silver Glen development in Alva has had a very special visitor, with top chef and culinary legend, Michel Roux Jr, coming along to officially open the development’s first showhome.

The four-bedroom Cuillin showhome is the first in Scotland to feature one of Michel’s range of Roux Kitchens, which have been designed, developed, and manufactured in association with UK kitchen manufacturer Moores.

Having introduced an exciting new specification at many of its developments earlier this year, including the Definitive range by Moores, Allanwater Homes managing director, David Stirling, who was on hand to welcome Mr Roux to the Hillfoots, expressed his excitement at being chosen as the first housebuilder north of the border, to debut a Roux kitchen.

 

  • Angus stone firm invests in new industrial unit

Growing demand has led an Angus stone specialist to invest in a new industrial building.



Denfind Stone reopened Pitairlie Quarry in 2004 and has since become one of Scotland’s leading suppliers of natural stone.

The firm said construction of a new 625 square metre industrial unit, which will help the firm to optimise its operations, is nearing completion.

The six-figure investment, which received assistance from the Angus Leader project, also includes 1,450sq m of additional concrete hard standing.

 



  • Road improvements begin in Lanark

Major road improvement works in Lanark began today.

The work will last for four days on the Castlegate, between its junction with Hyndford Place and its junction with Delves Park.

A diversion route, via High Street, Bloomgate and Friars Lane, will be in operation for the duration of the closure.

The work is part of South Lanarkshire Council’s roads investment programme.

 

  • Holiday bothies to be built in Deeside forest

Plans have been unveiled to build a “unique country retreat” in the heart of Royal Deeside.

Cairngorm Bothies has been granted planning permission to build 18 picturesque cabins within the 870-acre Blelack Estate near Aboyne.
