The Paddocks consists of seven high-spec properties, including five steading style homes, and two detached five bedroom villas.

Webster Homes managing director, Daniel Webster, said: “We are delighted to be back on site. • £30,000 Greenock anti-flooding and pavement works to begin

A road in the east end of Greenock is set for a £30,000 major programme of works to reduce flooding and improve pedestrian safety.

The section of Sinclair Street underneath the railway bridge will be upgraded from June 29.

Carriageway reconstruction and drainage work will be carried out and a new pavement built to improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

To allow for the improvements, a small stretch of Sinclair Street, from the junction with Carwood Street, will shut on Monday with the project expected to last six weeks.

Diversions will be in place for motorists and pedestrians.

The project is being led by Inverclyde Council and has gained funding through the national Cycle Walking Safer Streets scheme.

  • Meiklemill Footbridge replacement works to start

Works to replace the Meiklemill Footbridge at Ellon will start on July 6.

For the duration of the works – which are scheduled to be completed by mid-August - the crossing will be closed to all pedestrians along with the adjacent public car park which will accommodate a crane lifting pad and site welfare unit.

The footbridge provides an important route for the local community, connecting Meiklemill Primary School with Gordon Park and Ellon Primary School.

However, water damage and deterioration of the main parapet has led to the decision to replace the 45-year-old timber structure.

The existing footbridge will be demolished to make way for a new steel and timber structure.

Aberdeenshire Council’s in-house construction team will carry out the demolition and preparatory works for the installation of the new bridge which is currently being manufactured by Beaver Bridges Ltd.
