A public inquiry into plans for a multi-million pound tennis and golf academy, backed by Andy Murray’s mother Judy and former Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, is to be held in September.

The proposals, for a £40 million centre at Park of Keir, between Dunblane and Bridge of Allan were rejected by Stirling Castle last year.

The plans include a four-star hotel, visitor centre, museum, parkland and luxury housing, and are supported by Judy’s sons Andy and Jamie, as well as football legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

    Wheatley unveils £100M plan for its communities - and almost 200 new jobs

    Wheatley Group announced today it will invest more than £100 million over the next five years in maintaining and improving communities across central Scotland.

    The huge investment will coincide with, and complement, an overhaul of the Group’s environmental teams - with a recruitment drive under way for almost 200 jobs, apprenticeships and training places.

    Wheatley Group director of housing, Olga Clayton, said: “This is a massive statement of intent in our mission to make homes and lives better for our 200,000 customers across central Scotland.”

    Almost half of the opportunities are ring-fenced for customers of Wheatley’s subsidiaries and their families, some of whom live in the most disadvantaged communities in Scotland.

    Wheatley - Scotland’s leading housing, care and property-management group – is recruiting for a number of posts including:

    • 91 full-time environmental staff jobs;
    • 45 environmental apprenticeships; and
    • 45 environmental trainee opportunities.

      £4.75m Carnoustie golf centre plans go to charity regulator

      Carnoustie Golf Links Management Committee’s £4.75m extension project is to go before Scotland’s charity regulator.

      Town councillor Bill Bowles is seeking a meeting with the independent regulator and registrar over the plans and has also written to the audit commission to look at the way Angus Council meetings are run after his failed attempts to overturn last month’s decision to grant landlord’s consent for a £2.95m CGLMC loan.
