Shedman, owned by family business Spectrum Properties, stepped in when the storage facility at Rising Stars Nursery in Crownpoint Road was vandalised and provided them with a brand new 6x4 pent workshop.

It also supplied, delivered and fitted a 7x5 apex shed to be used as storage point for all the fun activities apparatus used by Lanarkshire-based Blameless charity on its away day and residential outings to the Eden Leisure Village in Cumbernauld.

The big-hearted donations came when Spectrum Properties managing director Bill Roddie heard about the troubles at Rising Stars, and at the suggestion of Colin McGowan, who is chief executive of Hamilton-base Blameless.

At the Rising Stars Crownpoint Road Childcare Centre, the nursery garden had been vandalised three times. The nursery posted on social media looking for help and Shedman immediately stepped in with the pent workshop worth £500.

The Rising Stars children have now sent hand painted Thank You cards to the Shedman team.

The Blameless charity was formed to create fun times and happy memories for children and families affected by alcohol and addiction. It holds festivals and play days at Hamilton Accies Stadium as well as its activities at the Eden Village.

Spectrum has been a previous benefactor of the charity. For the past five years it has funded a pantomime visit for up to 100 vulnerable youngsters and families. With pantomime off the agenda this year, the company instead donated £1500 in Aldi food vouchers.

This growth includes new accounts opened with national chains of builders’ merchants as well as smaller regional groups, specialist roofing merchants as well as independent merchants.

These figures reflect the latest Builders’ Merchants Building Index (BMBI) which recently reported the value of sales in merchants rose nearly 40% compared to the previous three months. Sales of building materials through merchants bounced back strongly in the three months May to July. In July sales recovered to such an extent that they were just 1.3 per cent below the same time in 2019.

Russell Roof Tiles has always supported its independent and multiple merchant customers helping them with specification and technical support.  Over the past 18 months, Russell Roof Tiles has invested in the merchant sector supporting both those who are strong in online sales or in store.
