Cairn Housing Association has officially started work on a new housing development in Lambhill, Glasgow, which will deliver 29 modern, energy-efficient homes.

The development, located next to Cairn’s existing homes in the area, will include 21 mid-market rent properties and 8 for social rent, offering a mix of two- and three-bedroom terraced houses to meet local housing needs.

Each home will be fitted with air source heat pumps, providing sustainable heating to help reduce energy bills for tenants and lower carbon emissions.

The project is being delivered by O’Brien Properties, with Brownriggs as employer’s agent and Ross Quality Control as clerk of works, and is funded by Glasgow City Council.

As part of the project, O’Brien Properties has also donated £5,000 to Lambhill Stables, a community-led anchor organisation that has been creating opportunities for learning, connection and wellbeing in the north of Glasgow since 2007.

A sod-cutting ceremony marked the start of the development, attended by Cairn staff and representatives from O’Brien Properties. Completion is expected in summer 2026.

Audrey Simpson, chief executive of Cairn Housing Association, said: “We are delighted to start work on this exciting new development in Lambhill. These high-quality, energy-efficient homes will provide much-needed housing options for the community and help us continue to build on our commitment to creating sustainable and thriving neighbourhoods.”
