Cala Homes (West) is renewing its partnership with Kilbride Hospice by extending its ‘roof donation’ initiative as part of its Community Pledge for local development, Cedar Brae.

The homebuilder announced the community initiative five years ago, when it launched its first Jackton development, Sequoia Meadows, promising to donate a £50 ‘roof donation’ for the legal completion of every home.

The final homes at Sequoia Meadows were sold last year, and since completion, Cala has donated a total of £7,300 to the South Lanarkshire hospice.

Following the launch of Cala’s latest development in Jackton, Cedar Brae, it will once again donate per roof to the hospice which provides specialist palliative care to patients with life limiting, progressive illnesses in the local area.

The funds donated by Cala have helped support the hospice in continuing to provide support for patients and their families, ensuring they can deliver the highest standard of compassionate care both within the hospice and out in the community.

Suzanne McElhiney, sales & marketing director at Cala Homes (West), said: “We’re proud that we are able to continue our partnership with Kilbryde Hospice in its vital ongoing efforts to provide invaluable support to the Jackton and East Kilbride community who need hospice care for themselves or a loved one.

“Supporting organisations like this is an important part of our commitment to giving back to the communities we build in through our Community Pledge, and we hope our donations help the hospice to continue its vital services.”

Gordon McHugh, chief executive at Kilbryde Hospice, added: “We were over the moon to hear that Cala would be continuing its roof donation and further supporting the hospice. Every contribution plays an important role in helping us to keep the hospice running whilst continuing to go above and beyond for our patients and their families.

“It’s fantastic to see businesses like Cala Homes support local groups and businesses in their local communities - the generosity makes a huge difference to organisations like ours and we would just like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation.”

Gordon and his colleague Kathryn Renouf, lead corporate and community fundraiser, recently visited Cala’s Cedar Brae development to meet the team, including assistant site manager Greig McNeish and Laurence Campbell, senior sales consultant.

Cedar Brae offers a collection of 126 three, four- and five-bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached homes in the semi-rural village of Jackton.
