CALA Homes submits revised plans for Aberdeen city centre apartments

An application to transform the currently disused, surplus land at May Baird Avenue, within the grounds of the former Royal Cornhill Hospital, was submitted in conjunction with NHS Grampian earlier this year.

Since then, CALA said it has taken on board feedback from the community and other consultees to refine and update the plans.

The new proposal comprises 32 apartments, four less than previously proposed, with the vehicle access point relocated to ensure traffic does not enter the site via May Baird Avenue. The apartments are set further away from neighbouring buildings and a landscaping buffer is now in place between existing homes and the new properties.

Mike Naysmith, managing director of CALA Homes (North), said: “We have carefully considered feedback from local people and other key stakeholders and have updated our plans accordingly. We believe that this development will bring much needed high-quality apartments to the city centre, built to CALA’s very high specifications and standards.

“As well as enhancing and enriching the area, these plans will potentially allow the NHS to reinvest funds from the sale of the land into health services in Grampian. We look forward to the council’s decision in due course.”
