CITB’s National Construction College opens doors for Scottish construction employers

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) is opening its doors at its National Construction College (NCC) in Inchinnan to Scottish construction employers for a one-day-only event that showcases the next generation of talent and training in the trades.
The event will provide employers with the opportunity to learn how NCC is shaping Scotland’s future workforce. Employers will have the opportunity to receive hands-on support to understand the grants and funding available to reduce any financial burden on training or apprenticeships.
The open day will showcase NCC’s capabilities in scaffolding apprenticeships, promoting the access sector and giving insight on the importance this role plays in construction. The access sector is at the forefront of site safety and commercial training, giving employers a hands-on look at how the next generation is being prepared for Scotland’s construction challenge whilst showing the NCC’s training capabilities to industry professionals.

During 2024-25, CITB provided over £71 million to employers through various apprenticeship grants, supporting over 30,000 learners and more than 10,000 employers, with the majority of these being small and micro construction firms. NCC investment over the next three years will total £39m for the sites at Erith, Bircham and Inchinnan
CITB’s vision for the National Construction College (NCC) is to generate significant value for the construction industry by expanding its training offer, delivering high-quality teaching and learner support, as well as collaborating with the wider industry to maximise its impact.
To achieve this, CITB is investing in expanding its training provision across the College’s three sites, delivering an increase in the range and volume of apprenticeship and commercial training opportunities to industry.
Kirsty Evans, executive principal for NCC, said: “NCC is firmly focused on achieving great outcomes for our learners and employers. Events like our upcoming open days give employers a valuable opportunity to see first-hand how our training equips apprentices and workers with the skills needed to thrive on site”
